The Milledgeville Police department earned state certification in 2001 by the Georgia Association of Chiefs of Police

The principle goal of the Milledgeville Police Department is the prevention of crime inwhich the entire community must be involved for any success to occur. Throught combined efforts, the Crime Prevention mission is to develop community responsibility directed at reducing the threat of crime and enhancing safety. This goal is handled in a two part approach. First, the patrol operations is considered the largest function within the department. Officers respond to calls for service, interact with the citizens, and enforce city ordinance and state laws. Second, By forming partnerships with surounding law enforcement agencies and our community we are able to gather the necessary information to investigate leads needed to prevent others from becoming victims.
