The mission of the Public Works Department is to protect and enrich the community through efficient delivery and maintenance of public works infrastructure, planning, and development services. Public Works is responsible for a wide range of services all aimed to maintain and improve the overall appearance and sustainability of Milledgeville’s streets, sidewalks, parks, and cemeteries.

What We Do
Services provided by the Public Works team include the repair and maintenance of the City’s streets, public rights-of-ways, easements and public cemeteries and parks, as well as providing storm water control and maintenance to storm drains. In addition to infrastructure and street repair, Public Works also maintains the City’s fleet of vehicles and provides curbside collection services of yard waste for close to 7,000 customers.

Recycling Center
The City of Milledgeville’s recycling center is located at the end of West Thomas Street, behind Westview Cemetery, and is available for use by all City residents. Items that can be taken to the recycling center include: plastics, glass and all brown goods. No construction debris.
